Shenandoah trailed Monroe Central for 4 1/2 innings before rallying for 3 runs in the 5th and 3 runs in the 6th to overcome the Bears 7-6 in a showdown of MEC squads who had yet to lose in the conference. The Raiders got a huge 3 run home run from senior Landen Freestone in the bottom of the 5th to bring the score to 5-4. His homer followed a single from fellow senior Kyle Randolph and a ground rule double from Tanner Goff. Goff finished 2 of 4 on the night and scored 3 times for the Raiders. The Raiders then got some help in the 6th as they were able to combine a walk, and single by Jake Webster and some untimely fielding miscues by the Bears to push across 3 more runs.
Gavin Patrick started on the mound for the Raiders and went the first 5 innings. He gave up 5 hits and 3 earned runs while striking out 4 and walking 4. He stranded several Monroe Central base runners over the course of those 5 innings. Patrick also went 2 for 3 at the plate with 2 RBI. Jackson Campbell earned the win in relief as he pitched the 6th and 7th innings. Campbell gave up an unearned run and struck out 5 (including all three Bears he faced in the 7th).
The Raiders are back in MEC action tomorrow at Eastern Hancock.
