The Raider softball squad fell in their season opener to Rushville at home on Friday evening 8-2. Starting pitcher Kaylin Nolen took the loss for Shenandoah, giving up 3 runs on 3 hits over the first 3 innings. The junior struck out 3 and walked 3 in her season debut. Sophomore Emma Whittenburg finished up in the circle for SHS. She gave up 5 runs on 10 hits over the final 4 innings.
Sophomore catcher Alyssa Allen led the offense with 2 singles in 3 at bats. Kenedi Helms had the only other Raider hit, a single in the 7th.
The Raiders travel to Pendleton Heights on Tuesday.
