The Raider boys started their Saturday night game with Blue River on an 18-2 run and defeated their Henry County and MEC rival 72-51 in the home opener. Junior guards Andrew Bennett and Kaden McCollough got the Raiders off and running, combining for 13 of the Raiders 18 points in the first. The Raiders got more balanced scoring in the second as 6 Raiders contributed buckets or free throws.
The third quarter belonged to the Vikings as they exceeded the first half total of 17 by scoring 22 points in the quarter. The Vikings got scoring inside (Halatt 8pts) and outside (Thornburg 9pts on 3 threes). The Raiders righted the ship in the fourth, outscoring BRV 18-12.
Andrew Bennett led all scorers with 26 but was joined by three teammates in double figures on the night. Jake Kinsey popped in 14, Kaden McCollough had 11, and Jackson Campbell added 10. The Raiders will be at 2-0 Alex on Saturday for a showdown with the Tigers.
