Raiders News · Curtis Parker Award is Presented

Recently, the athletic department of Shenandoah HS handed out the Curtis Parker award to Silas Allred. Parker was a long-time supporter of the athletic programs at SHS and is best known for his omnipresence at Raider athletic events (usually in his work over-alls). Many times he would put in 14-16 hour days of work and have dinner out of the concession stand that evening. The Fitness Center at Shenandoah was dedicated to his memory.

Allred is a 2-time state champion in wrestling for the Raiders. In his career he lost only 2 matches total to go go against 139 wins. He became just the 5th wrestler in IHSAA history to pin all of his opponents at the state finals meet. He has accepted a full athletic scholarship to the University of Nebraska, where after a red-shirt season he will compete for the Cornhuskers. Silas is shown below with his mom, Dana Ellis.
