Recapping the top stories for Shenandoah Athletics brings us today to #4, the continued success under second year Head Coach Jordan McCaslin of the Raider football squad. After an opening game loss on the road to then top-ranked Scecina, the Raiders rolled off 10 consecutive wins before falling by a point in overtime to Lapel. Thus, the Raiders finished the year 10-2. The Raiders 2 losses came by a combined 3 points. SHS was 3-0 in the MEC to claim that conference crown.

The Raiders had several players named to various all-state teams in 2018 including first team all-staters Gabe Young, Dalton Guffey, and Dallas Pugsley as well as Academic All-Staters Lucas Wuestefeld and Daniel Chapman. Young was also selected to play in the North-South All-Star next week in Indianapolis.

The Raiders return several experienced pieces and a nice mix of up and coming talent from last year’s squad including starting QB/LB Peyton Starks, QB/DB Tanner Goof, RB/DB Blake Surface RB/LB Josh Farmer, TE/LB Kam Graddy, OL/DL Tristen Bertram, OL/DL Kiernan Breckinridge, OL/DL Corbin Badger, OL/DL Zack Gedek, OL/DL Coleson White, OL/DL Charlie New, WR/DB Andrew BennettWR/DB Colton Monday.
