Game Recap

Two stats summarize tonight’s game. The Raiders shoot 8 of 33 and commit 21 turnovers. Offensively the girls were creating “open looks”, but the shots were off. The Raiders were beat to most “50/50 balls”, although Rachel Coers had two steals (and a block on Jenna Irelan). Candy Chandler drove to the lane, where she was fouled 4 times (5 for 8 on FT’s). Coers hit two “3’s”, one in each half. The poor shooting and turnovers were too much to overcome, but the Raiders were only down 26-10 at half. After half, the girls came out and moved the ball with quick crisp passes, and Alex Canaday got an easy layup. Hillery Shepherd had a decent defensive night collecting a few rebounds, getting deflections, and going to the floor for loose balls. Giving up 17 offensive rebounds to Yorktown, was not just caused by our lack of height though. The Raiders are going to have to find a way to regroup to be able to finish the regular season with wins. They are a capable group, when they play as a cohesive unit and rely on each other. Tonight on the other hand, I’m not sure if they even believed in themselves. Both benches put in their reserves with approximately 5:00 left in the fourth. Skylar Counceller had two blocks, a rebound, and 4 points. Hannah Cole hit a nice baseline shot from 12 feet. The Raiders play Knightstown next.
